This is the second
Nemaha County Court House of this design as the first one was
destroyed by fire and the same design was rebuilt. This
was repaired after the tornado but it was replaced before too many
ye The City
of Seneca furnished the first one as an incentive to the county
locating the court house here. John Smith had changed the
trail to Seneca by seeding oats or millet on the trail and directing
the trail traffic through Seneca. Insurance paid for the second one
which was of the same design and insurance paid for the repair of
this one.
