The Electric  Plant and Water works, Seneca, Kansas

This is the  Electric Plant and Water Works  which included the Water Tower or Stand Pipe as it was referred to  in the early days.  There is a  large hand dug well which measures 35  foot in diameter 65 feet deep which still remain under the pointed roof structure in the this  block.   The location is  west of Tenth Street between Nemaha and Pioneer  where the park is today.  There was no paved Eleventh street until in the 1950s.   This picture  is looking to the north from Castle  Street.

Today the hand dug well is all that remains at this location of that period.
