Gilford Hotel, Third and Main , Seneca, Kansas
This is a small poor quality photo and over
enlarged however it shows several things which were not seen on
any other picture of the hotel. The Gilford Hotel with the fountain in
the center of the intersection. This was for the purpose of watering the
horses that were on Main Street. This was at Third and Main and the pillion which
were in the center of street also. During this time
the autos were parked in the center of the Street and the
pylons marked the end of the parking area. This must have
been some time around 1920. This also shows the paining mill south
(right) which I remember reading was destroyed by fire near this date.
This building on the south side of the Gilford Hotel.
There appears to be a second light near the north entrance however it
may be the sun shining on the corner of the porch post. Would
welcome any information or pictures from this time.
Would welcome more fact concerning the Gilford
Hotel or this picture.
