The Courier-Democrat
This page still needs some work and is on my list.
The newspaper "The Courier-Democrat" was located on the
corner of fourth and Main in the south east corner of the intersection
from -------- to 1922. This building
was remolded and set back from the street when the service station was
installed in the early 1900s.
|
To the right is a picture from an add in
the Courier-Tribune anniversary edition of 1938 which shows this station
as it appeared at that time. I am told that this station was owned by
two brother by the name of Van Valkenburg who owned service stations in
Seneca, Vermillion, Frankfort and Wheaton. and was named "Van's
Service". There are very likely people in Seneca who have more
information on this and that information it will be added here if they
so like. |
