Nemaha County  1855 to 1857  Shows Trails of the time.
No township names at that time,  plat 11-1,
Clear Creek Township today

Some of these trails are  bit off if the followed the top of the ridges, I am sure mapping out the open parries was not a simple operation.  My G Grandfather John Mitchell lived in section six NW corner of Clear Creek in the early days and tradition has it he would drive cattle to the Indian reverberation for summer pasture in the summer along this trail in Clear Creek Town ship. This trail crossed Clear Creek in two places in sections 24 and 28.  This map was  surveyed in 1857 and shows two crossings. There was evidence that the trail did swing south and avoid crossing Clear Creek by going south and joining the trail through Ash-Point.  The trail crossed Clear Creek and traveled over the high ground south of Summerfield to to Okto near the Blue River.   Click on map to see the trail markings .
